Living outside of Hawaii post covid-19 developed an overwhelming sense of nostalgia for my old life, especially during COVID. In the scenes below, I depict an idealized version of my past experience, where Kama’aina had exclusive access to the islands while the travel ban was instated. Only a few people belong in these landscapes, but those who do exist as part of the environment.
